Err, party planning
I’m supposed to be preparing (read: cleaning) for my New Years Eve party and it’s not going so great… Well, I guess I suppose I’m *preparing* in a way… that is if trying every fancy dress I own and dancing in my room counts for party planning. What? I’m just trying to get the party playlist and my outfit just right! I can’t wait for tomorrow night!  Big...

New Yorker: A Year in Covers
I love The New Yorker, including the intelligently illustrated covers that offer so much more than just a pretty picture! The covers are always relevant and very cleverly make a statement about the world. Click here to view covers from all 47 issues of the magazine in 2007.   Below are a few of my favorites from the group!

Got New Years plans?
I do, yet I was happy to discover that Radiohead will be performing their latest album “In Rainbows,” music I can’t get enough of, on an exclusive-live TV performance at  12 p.m. ET on January 1 on Current TV. The commercial-free performance will include all of the tracks from “In Rainbows” plus some “other bits.” YAY! I will defintely will be setting my...

Past and Present
One thing I love about the holidays is the time spent with family. We’re big on sharing stories and laughing about our happy past. Like many families, we have some classic stories and every year, often around the holidays, these stories float to surface at the dinner table or while sitting together around the living room. I can’t tell you how many times my “Oh dear God help...

An anonymous donor gave $10,000 to the Oregon Prison system and asked that the Christmas gift be shared among the inmates. When all was said and done each inmate received $4.11.

NYT: The Afterlife Is Expensive for Digital Movies
“To store a digital master record of a movie costs about $12,514 a year, versus the $1,059 it costs to keep a conventional film master. Much worse, to keep the enormous swarm of data produced when a picture is “born digital” — that is, produced using all-electronic processes, rather than relying wholly or partially on film — pushes the cost of preservation to $208,569 a year, vastly higher...

A Cinematic Story
I occasionally peruse the Weddings & Celebrations section of the New York Times on Sundays (don’t ask me why!?) Today, there’s a story of a man who met his wife to be at the Sundance Film Festival. The article begins, “IT is a truth not universally acknowledged that a single man who meets his wife-to-be at the Sundance Film Festival is likely to make his proposal of marriage...

Sleepy in Seattle
Just arrived in Seattle… have a very brief layover before heading to Portland. I’ve been up since 4 a.m. ET and have hit a wall! I had to brave a Nor’easter on my way to Penn Station just so I could make the train to Newark in order to catch my flight which left early this am. It was right about 4:15 a.m. when I was wishing I had arranged car service. As a West Coaster, I was...

WHOA! Peta has a mark on the Olsen twins or should I say the Trollsen twins! I got to say, I can’t believe that people today still wear fur, especially when there are so many alternatives. Why don’t they understand that faux IS fashionable?! Warning the video above contains disturbing footage of animal cruelty. I wish I had been prepared.

So Sweet!
My very sweet cousin brought me sweets at lunch today! Banana creme pudding AND cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery! Made my day and now I’m riding on a sugar high :) PS- Don’t worry, I did not eat everything all in one sitting… although I did finish up the banana creme pudding rather quickly. Ha!

I need I.T.!
I’ve spent the past two days setting up a new blog account with a recently purchased domain name on Word Press. The main site is set up, and I’m extremely proud that I managed it on my own given my elementary knowledge of code and web hosting. Well everything was going great until today. I’ve spent the past two and half hours “Googling” my issue and I’m starting...

I'd rather walk...
Unlike a lot of people, I would rather walk than take a cab pretty much anywhere in Manhattan. I loathe, no HATE, a stronger and more appropriate word, taxi cabs. Love the movie, Taxi Driver, but not the actual vehicle. I have no patience for the constant stop and go rig-amoral and aggressive, hazardous driving. I know I’m in the minority on this one, but I don’t care. I’d rather...
