Namaste
I just came back from the BEST yoga class and now I feel fabulous! I’ve been feeling a lot tension in my shoulders lately… it’s where I carry any bit of stress. Well, just one hour of yoga did the trick. If only healing all ailments were this easy. Amazing. I’ve done yoga for years now -vinyasa, ashtanga, bikram, hatha—you name it, I’ve tried it. But you know,...
My plans for the evening....
First this… and then this… I’m always up for a classy, fancy schmancy evening :)
I Feel It All
“But after hearing “The Reminder” over and over in 2007, in many homes and retail establishments, I found that the songs kept disappearing back into the CD, just like steam. One song stuck hard, though, and is unlikely to leave my all-time playlist: “I Feel It All,” which now has a video. “1 2 3 4,” a lesser song, got a better video, which is widely known as an iPod commercial that...
Whoa! Just read this in the times. Heath Ledger was found dead in an apartment building literally a few blocks away from my office. So very sad.
Oh Oprah!
My mom just mentioned to me that Oprah named Love in the Time of Cholera as an Oprah Book Club pick last fall. That kinda bums me out… Not that I thought our first novel for book club was SUCH an original idea, but man, now this feels so clique.
Book Club!
I have a terrible habit that I’d like to break. I’ve been known to pick up stacks of books from the bookstore with excited anticipation only to read about 250 of a 350 -page novel. It’s sad really how noncommittal I’ve become when it comes to reading. I wasn’t always this way. I used to be the kind of gal who picked up a book and didn’t put it down. I was a...
More from the New Yorker...
“If one person decides to watch “The Sopranos” rather than to read Leonardo Sciascia’s novella “To Each His Own,” the culture goes on largely as before—both viewer and reader are entertaining themselves while learning something about the Mafia in the bargain. But if, over time, many people choose television over books, then a nation’s conversation with itself is likely to change. A reader...

My plans tonight...Dinner at Eight →
I just caught the end of one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE movies— Out of Africa. It’s playing again on Monday so I set my DVR to record. I caught the film right at one of its most romantic moments… After their relationship has developed and been tested over time, Denys (Robert Redford) tells his lover Karen (Meryl Streep) the following…. Denys: “You’ve ruined it...

I came across this posting while reading Ecofabulous, one of my favorite eco blogs. I’m sure this organic cinnamon is fabulous, but that’s not why I’m referencing it. I wanted to add one ingredient to “great pancakes” that the author missed. Applesauce. A little bit of vanilla, cinnamon and applesauce and you’ve got yourself some delicious pancakes. Now that my...
$3,014,170,389,176,410
— the dollar figure so far sought from some 489,000 claims filed against the federal government over damage from the failure of levees and flood walls following hurricane Katrina, according to the AP. WHOA!
A sign...
My friend Erin and I decided to take a coffee break during work today. I was telling her about my vacation dilemma. I'm trying to decided whether to go to the SXSW film festival again this year, or take a beachy vacation. I would really like to do both, but I have so many weddings to travel to this year, and I'd like to do some sort of European vacation, so I don't think I'll be able to swing it all.
As we were walking by the Thompson Hotel at 2 p.m. on a beautiful 67 degree New York afternoon, the following conversation took place.
Me: Blah, blah, blah, SXSW, blah, blah, blah.
Erin O.: You just missed the professional moment of your life.
Me: Huh?
Erin O.: You just passed Harvey Weinstein
Me: WHAT!
Yep, I did. Most of my friends know that I'm an aspiring filmmaker and meeting Harvey would be the biggest coup. I'll officially meet him someday. Oh, and I took the whole thing as a sign. I'm going to SXSW baby!
Some Brand-Name Bloggers Say Stress of Posting Is...
Via NYT—“Om Malik’s blog, GigaOm, regularly breaks news about the technology industry. Last week, the journalist turned blogger broke a big story about himself. Mr. Malik, 41, blogged that he had suffered a heart attack on Dec. 28.” “The trouble with a personal brand is, you’re yoked to a machine,” said Paul Kedrosky, a friend of Mr. Malik’s who runs the Infectious Greed blog....
Brrrrrrrrr!
It’s 19 degrees outside. Last year I managed to dodge all bad weather with my hectic travel schedule. This year, not so much. This may be the coldest I’ve ever felt IN MY LIFE! I’m putting off leaving work b/c I don’t want to go outside! Maybe I can just sleep here. Or not :(

At the gym this morning...
I was running, listening to my iPod and watching America’s Next Top Model with no sound. I’m sorry, but Nigel Barker, the photographer was on and I couldn’t help it. Anyway, following my run I decided to do some light lifting, and as I began a set of row presses I noticed a very attractive man working out—NIGEL BARKER! I couldn’t believe it?! And, the funniest part...
Resolve!
Janey and I are sitting in a coffee shop writing our reflections on 2007 and making resolutions for 2008.
Janey: I feel like this is an assignment you would receive on the first day back from school and we'd be bitching about it.
But now, it's like fun.
