Oh, what to say about the High Line – there’s so much! The other day, I along with a few others guests of Pepsico were taken on a special tour of the newly renovated elevated railway between W. 13th and W. 20th St. The landscape is absolutely beautiful, but its impact is even greater when you understand what it used to be.
A good place to see the High Line in all its overgrown glory is the section that runs along W. 34th. St., although it’s not open to the public. I had assumed this section was under construction, but Friends of the High Line is currently negotiating the area’s plans with the railway, so it may or may not change.
I wanted to show the area as it is naturally - an overgrown, abandoned, rundown freight railway in contrast to its potential as evident in the transformed space below 20th St. This is my very first photomotion video, so it’s far from perfect, but I had fun putting it together despite the fact that hundreds of photos nearly killed my harddrive.
The lovely music in the video is titled Lewis & Clark by Camp Firewood. A big thank you to my friend Lucas for letting me use this song, which fits perfectly.
