I have an idea…

and in order to see it through I want to compile a list of all the places that hold special film screenings and retrospectives in New York. I’m not interested in chains like AMC Loews or Clearview, so here’s what I got:

  • IFC Center
  • Angelika Film Center
  • Anthology Film Center
  • Paley Center for Media
  • Film Society of Lincoln Center
  • Cinema Village (East/West)
  • 92Y (uptown/Tribeca)
  • Sunshine Cinema
  • Museum of Modern Art
  • Maysles Theater
  • BAM
  • Museum of Moving Images
  • French Institute Alliance Francaise
  • Two Boots Pioneer Theater (closing Nov.)
  • Paris Theater
  • Update #1: Tribeca Cinemas, The Quad, Film Forum (I can’t believe I left these off the original list).
  • Update #2: Morgan Library holds retrospectives, and Columbia Film School holds screenings. arts.columbia.edu/film

Thanks everyone! More info coming soon!

Is there any major film house I’m missing besides every outdoor/rooftop film series?
