I’ve checked out Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, SIFF, MTM, the New York Film Festival, etc., but for the very first time I’ll be participating in the 3rd Annual Bushwick Film Festival in Brooklyn on Sunday.
I find it so cool that Kweighbay Kotee and Laree Ross, two women who love film, created a festival in their neighborhood to provide an eclectic mix of creative “artists, innovators, enthusiasts, whackos, thinkers, do-it-yourselfers, and down right weirdos” as they say, a platform to present their work.
The festival starts tonight at 6 p.m. the Lumenhouse (47 Beaver St., Brooklyn) and a full line-up, which mixes documentaries, narratives, creative shorts and panels can be found here.
I’m going to be moderating a panel on “The Art of Digital Filmmaking: From Production to Distribution” at 7:15 p.m. at Lumenhouse and you may just recognize a few of the panelists…
- Josh Ruben, Director/Actor, CollegeHumor/Dutch West
- Vincent Peone, Cinematographer, CollegeHumor/Dutch West
- Jay Bulger, Director/Actor, Driving with Jay
I really can’t think of a better way to escape the rain than by coming out to Bushwick and watching and talking independent film all day, now can you? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
