No, but we saw the movie!
I laughed out loud when I read the following New Yorker article by Nora Ephron. It centers on that feeling one gets when watching a movie and A. you feel like you’ve missed something crucial while following the plot and B. it doesn’t seem portrayed the way it was in the book.
I smiled my way through this particular article because the basis of her exploration was No Country For Old Men, a film I had seen a few days prior.
After watching the film, I left the theater thinking, ‘did I miss something?’ I was perplexed and felt uneasy as the credits cast down the dark screen. Admittedly, the first thing I did when I got home was check the Internet to confirm potential plot twists that may or may not have completely flown over my head. In the end, I discovered there was no reason to obsess or second guess and now that I’ve had time to reflect, I’m satisfied with the ending. Overall, I think it was very fitting, actually.
Anyway, I thought it charming that a writer felt the same way, but instead of going to the Internet (the easy way out I might add), she felt inclined to check the book! Clever :)
