“But it is where we start.”
Obama’s speech made me tear up. I cannot believe it has taken so long for someone running for president to get it. He does. He didn’t have to be the spouse of an American president to get it or be in the Senate for a few more terms. Shit. He just gets it. He understands. We have to make this happen, guys.
Very well put. I finally had a chance to watch and read Obama’s speech on race today and was for the first time, after a long list of political proclamations, moved in this presidential campaign. Some people shy away from vocalizing their political beliefs, and I totally understand why— it’s a very personal choice and full of debate.
However, I have no problem sharing with you all my support for Obama. I know he’s not a miracle worker and that change won’t happen overnight, but I have no doubt in my mind that he’s the catalyst we need for a positive dramatic shift in America.
And another thing, I’ve been really sick of all the twisted media attention lately, okay not lately, always is a more appropriate word. It’s like every single reporter with every sort of political agenda (although they’re supposed to remain objective) is trying to find any new angle on the story, and it’s distracting as Obama put it very eloquently. Can we please stop all the campaign scare tactics and rants, and just stick to the issues?! Please?! NOTE: I want to add that I know that this has been the way reporters have covered campaigns since the beginning of time, but you got to admit, it has gotten out of control!
Can you tell I feel strongly about this? :)
