Just finished watching Cat Dancers, an HBO documentary that tells the story of Joy and Ron Holiday, a world-famous husband and wife dancing duo who revitalized their career by creating an act with wild tigers and leopards. Once their cat act gained momentum they hired Chuck Lizza, a young man who literally left home to join the circus, and soon joined the Holidays as a business partner and ahem, much more - yes, it’s what you think.
The story is narrated by Ron who explains the whole story very candidly, including it’s ultimate tragic ending, which was even more horrifying than I imagined. Obviously, the nature of their work was highly dangerous and I’ll leave it at that.
It’s fairly short at just over an hour and I’d suggest checking it out if you’re interested in a well-told story, albeit a somewhat bizarre one.
