I haven’t shared the news publicly, and by that I mean with the Tumblr community, but I wanted to let you all know that I’m an Associate Producer on a documentary film in the works called Pretty Old. The film takes a look at the complexities that exist between beauty and aging through the eyes of eight sweet old ladies competing for the title of Ms. Senior Sweetheart. Every time I tell anyone about this film the first reaction I get is, “Ugh, is there a swimsuit competition?” And, the answer to that is yes, but really, the question can and should be flipped – why do we react the way we do to aging and beauty? We all get old. We’re just not old yet. Right now, we’re in post- production and it’s my job to find funding. I’m thrilled I have the opportunity to work on a film that has so much to say – it’s the reason why documentary filmmaking is so appealing to me. I want to make a difference in the world and social commentary is one way I plan to do it. In the next few days, I’m going to be creating an online home for all things Pretty Old – Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, etc. - and, I’d love it if you all would join in the conversation.  **Big thanks to Chris who connected me with Boss Films for this project!
