Vinnie’s post regarding bicycling in Germany just reminded me of a conversation I had with my friend Greg last night. I’m heading to London, Lavenham (the English countryside) and Paris for a much needed vacation and to decompress and re-energize creatively. I’m so “plugged in” (my fault), but I need some time away from it all, so I’m leaving my computer behind. Any thoughts, inspirations will be scribed in my journal the good ol’ fashioned way.
Well, Greg recommended I see Paris by bike. Apparently, on nearly every street corner you can easily rent a bike for just a few euros. It works kinda like Flexcar where you pick up and drop off your bike at your destination, which sounds so wonderful and romantic - imagine taking in the city while biking along the Seine in spring - are you kidding me?!
Now, to my next question. Why doesn’t New York offer this option of public transportation? I know it can be dangerous to bike in the city with all the cabs, etc, but if I’ve done it it’s really not so bad - especially downtown or around Brooklyn. It could work couldn’t it?!
